Equine Assisted Narrative Therapy program

Is seeking to recruit 2 qualified and experienced Counsellors.

Part Time Employment 

One Counsellor to join the team in the established program at Mooroopna North (near Shepparton) Victoria.

And 

One Counsellor to join the new program being established in the Bacchus Marsh/Melton area, Victoria.  

Successful Applicants will be trained in our unique Equine Assisted Narrative Therapy counselling approach.

You might the person for one of these positions if -  

  • you are interested in Equine Assisted Therapies
  • you have interest in or experience in Narrative therapy practices
  • you have training and/or experience in provision of counselling and working in therapeutic contexts using trauma informed practices
  • you enjoy working with people from a wide range of backgrounds (cultural, gender, ages, disability, mental illness), and people who find engaging in counselling difficult.
  • you care deeply for animals, have empathy, tolerance and concern for their wellbeing.
  • you have experience or interest in working with horses, especially those who have had difficulties in their lives.
  • you are creative, inquisitive and interested in continually seeking and discovering effective ways to assist people to resolve challenges in their lives
  • you are suited to working in small dynamic teams
  • your values, beliefs and methods are congruent with those of Horses for Hope. (see Horses for Hope Limited Purpose, Vision, Beliefs and Values statement)
  • you have a qualification that enables you to be registered to provide counselling.
  • you are able to work part time with potential to increase hours of work in the future.

To be considered for the positions you must have -

  • Qualifications that enable you to be registered as a counselor in Australia for example eligibility for membership/registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA), Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), or Psychology Board of Australia, or of the Australian Counsellors Association.
  • Sound knowledge of or be keen to work within Narrative therapy informed framework.

 

 

The successful applicant for the Mooroopna position will be employed part time (anticipated 3 days a week) under the conditions of the SCHADS Award.

The Bacchus Marsh/Melton program is in the process of being established and there will be an initial period of training prior to the program opening, anticipated to be March/April 2021. The position will be employed on a casual basis under the conditions of the SCHADS Award. Employment will be expected to begin with limited hours initially as the program begins and build over time as the client group expands.
